Representatives from World Bank China Office Visited Guangxi University

On November 3rd, Mr.Martin Raiser,World Bank’s Country Director for Chian and Mongolia, and Director for Korea and his party visited Guangxi University(GXU), accompanied by Chen Cui, offical  from the Poverty Relief Office of Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region. Mr. Ning Xuchu, Chief Accountant of GXU, met with the guests, and leaders from International Cooperation and Exchange Office, China-ASEAN Institute of Financial Cooperation(CAIFC), Business School and International College were all present at the meeting.

Mr. Ning welcomed Mr. Raiser and his delegation, and introduced GXU briefly to them. He thanked World Bank for supporting the construction of Guangxi and carrying out important poverty alleviation projects here. He said that GXU has also put forward a strategy of alleviating poverty through education and is now supporting education in Chongzuo and Baise cities.

Mr. Raiser congratulated on the establishment of CAIFC and briefed on World Bank and its activities in Guangxi. He said their purpose of visit is to know more about GXU and exchange ideas with students here. Mr. Raiser hopes that students will know more about World Bank and apply for its internship.

Mr. Raiser and his delegation also visited the History Museum of GXU and CAIFC. He gave an introduction to students from CAIFC, Business School and International College about the history of World Bank, the 40th anniversary of China-World Bank cooperation, the bank's current working focus in China and roles World Bank is playing in advancing global development and poverty reduction, addressing global challenges, and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the UN.
