On May 12, the opening ceremony of “Israeli Flower Photography Exhibition”&“Guangxi University-Israel Agricultural Innovative Technology Exchange and Sharing Seminar”was successfully held in the Student Activity Centre and College of Agriculture of Guangxi University.
A group of 12, including Mr. Peleg Lewi, the Consul-General of Israel in Guangzhou, Liu Wanyi, Director of Academic and Technological Affairs of the Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou, Mr. Wen Biaotang, Chairman of JJR Company, Mr. Charlie Ye, CEO of Shenzhen-Israel Technology Innovation Co., Ltd., and Yang Qi, Sales Manager of the South China Region of Bermad Shanghai, etc., participated in the opening ceremony. Professor Feng Jiaxun, Vice-President of GXU, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Representatives from International Cooperation and Exchange Department, GXU Committee of Youth League, School of Arts and College of Agriculture were also present.
Mr. Feng Jiaxun said that Israel, located in west Asia, enjoys a unique geographical environment and climate for beautiful flowers. Chinese and Jewish people both love flowers. This exhibition can enhance students’ understanding towards Israel, promote exchanges and cooperation between GXU and universities and institutions in Israel and facilitate friendship between China and Israel.
Mr. Peleg Lewi said that art is like a bridge between nations. He was delighted that those fascinating pictures of Israeli flowers were exhibited in GXU, which shows an artistic innovation. This exhibition, co-hosted by School of Arts of GXU and the Israeli Consulate, marks a beginning of cooperation between the two sides. He also expressed his hope that the exhibition would encourage more students to make breakthroughs and achieve more cooperation in terms of art. Mr. Peleg Lewi also mentioned that in the Consulate Badge Design Competition held earlier, students of GXU participated actively and one of them got the prize of “Best Innovation”.
After the opening ceremony, Mr. Feng Jiaxun introduced the development, education, advantages and construction of R&D platform of agricultural discipline in GXU in the Exchange and Sharing Seminar. He also expressed gratitude to Mr. Peleg Lewi for inviting experts and entrepreneurs to exchange and share their experience and achievements in agricultural innovation, which would bring innovative ideas and lay a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Mr. Peleg Lewi briefly introduced the national conditions of Israel and its achievements in scientific research and development. He stressed that Israel pays great attention to talent cultivation and the advantage of Israeli agriculture lies in its high-tech. He pointed out that agriculture is of great importance to a country, and students in agricultural discipline are a backbone force to save humans from starvation. He hoped that students can have a broad view, be innovative and make a greater contribution to the development of agricultural industry in the world.
In the Exchange and Sharing Seminar, Mr. Wen Biaotang, Mr. Charlie Ye, and Professor He Longfei and Professor Li Fusheng from College of Agriculture made keynote speeches. Around 200 teachers and students from College of Agriculture attended the Seminar.
