School of Physical Education, Guangxi University was founded in April 2011, formerly known as the Department of Physical Education Teaching of Guangxi University and the Office of Physical Education Teaching and Research of Guangxi Agricultural University. In April 1997, the two departments were merged into the new Department of Physical Education Teaching of Guangxi University, undertaking the teaching of all public physical education courses, high-level sports team training and management, and promoting mass sports in campus. The school has set up the undergraduate major of Sports Training, and has obtained the authorization of Master of Public Sports Management and Master of Sports. At present, there are 290 undergraduate students and 59 graduate students in school, as well as 52 full-time teachers, including 3 professors, 17 associate professors, 7 doctors and 2 Ph.D. students.

The school actively carries out the project to improve teaching quality and its guarantee system, so as to form the physical education with distinct characteristics. With the overall goal of "constructing projects, creating characteristics and building brands", the school focuses on the requirements of "teaching effectively, practice persistently and compete frequently", and meanwhile puts ideological and political education throughout public physical education classes. According to the teaching mode of "health knowledge + basic sports skills + special sports skills", we will continue to reform the teaching model of public physical education.

In recent years, the high-level sports team has won 25 national championships, 12  runners-ups and 15 third places in national competitions. The aerobics team has participated in the World Cheerleading Championships on behalf of China for many times. In 2018, the team won the championship in the elite team competition of the World University Cheerleading Championships. In addition, Lan Xingyu, an undergraduate student majoring in Sports Training, won championship of the rings twice, in the 50th World Gymnastics Championships in 2021 and the Asian Gymnastics Championships in 2022 respectively.

Conscientiously implementing the guideline of "put health first", the school has won the honorary titles of "Excellent Colleges and Universities Implementing the Regulations on School Physical Education Work", "National Promotion Award of Mass Aerobics Exercise","National Mass Sports Exemplary Organization", etc. On the basis of summarizing  existing achievements, School of Physical Education, Guangxi University will actively build a scientific research platform, strengthen the construction of talent teams, and strive to achieve great improvement under the goal of building a first-class comprehensive research school with distinctive characteristics in China.
