Eight Scholars from Guangxi University Selected in the “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers 2023” Announced by Elsevier

Recently, Elsevier, a global information analysis company, released its “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list for 2023, with 5,801 scholars from 496 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions on the list. Eight scholars from Guangxi University, including Han Linhai (Civil Engineering), Xiao Jianzhuang (Civil Engineering), Long Hualou (Public Administration), Chen Wuhua (Electrical Engineering), Lin Weiying (Chemistry), Shen Peikang (Physics), Yu Jiefu (Biology) and Zhu Help (Applied Economics), were selected for the list, an increase of two over 2022.

Published by the famous information analysis company Elsevier, this compilation relies on Scopus, the world's premier citation and index database, as the primary statistical source for evaluating the scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars. The methodology utilized in this assessment is developed by Shanghai Soft Science Education Information Consulting Co., LTD., to deeply analyze and identify Chinese scholars in different periods of their scientific research careers from multiple dimensions, and systematically display the performance of its scientific research results. The list is not only shows the comprehensive distribution of talents in China's scientific research field, but also the composition of featured disciplines and academic influence of each institution and university, as well as top talents in key technology research and fields.

The basic data extraction of this year’s “Highly cited Chinese Researchers comes from the further optimized and updated Elsevier first-level discipline classification map (covering 111 disciplines) of the Ministry of Education, which makes the data of Chinese researchers' discipline attribution and discipline performance more intuitive and systematic, and raise the reputation of scholars with outstanding performance in subdivision disciplines with more Chinese regional characteristics.
